Has it really been 2 months since my last post? Looks like I’m slacking a little. I guess I go through these periods where I need to take a break from certain things because life get’s too hectic and things get pushed to the back burner. My blog was one of those things.
June is always a crazy month for us. Between my husbands family and mine we have 6 birthday’s in one month. On top of the usually birthday’s and Fathers Day, this year we have 3 baby showers. We always say we need to prepare for June as soon as the month ends every year but we never do!
So needless to say – June will be interesting this year so hopefully I will stay committed to posting more on my blog!
I have to laugh at myself because I am so excited about my new Kate Spade purse and wallet. I would refresh the USP tracking page hourly (sometimes even every half hour) to see if my package has been delivered to our front door! I felt so much excitement when I drove up my driveway and saw it there just for me. I don’t think I have ever ripped open a box so quickly when I walked in the house.
A little back story: When I got engaged Kate Spade just came out with the option to monogram their purses and wallets and being newly engaged you want to monogram EVERYTHING with your future initials! I was so close to ordering a monogrammed purse multiple times but I always talked myself out of it so I could be more excited when I was actually married. I waited over a year for my personalized purse and for me to wait that long really says something because I never wait. If I want something bad enough I will find a way to get it one way or another.
So needless to say this was a very exciting purchase for me. I was finally able to get my monogrammed purse and new wallet. It almost felt like a wedding present! And what makes it better is my purse is red and gold, and my wallet is a light grey which were our wedding colors! It couldn’t have been more perfect.
I mentioned in my gratitude post that Kate Spade was having the best sales last week so I had to do a little retail therapy to get me through the week and with my new purse finally being in my hands I wanted to share my excitement!
I’m a little late on my weekly gratitude but I figured I would do one really quick. Last week was hectic and crazy so this is probably going to be more of a funny post than inspirational. Especially because I felt like I was losing my mind last week.
To get me through the days I was ready to fall asleep at my desk. I got a 4 pack on Tuesday and finished it by Friday. I’m going to try not to drink it this week because I don’t want to rely on it!
I sit at a desk all day and I’m happy I don’t have too much of a physical job but last week I had a lot of running around to do around the office. I’m an assistant so my day’s can get pretty hectic. I had a combination of back pain and migraines but thanks to Advil I was able to keep the pain under control.
3. Kate Spade
When I get stressed I usually do one of two things: stress eat or retail therapy. Thankfully last week Kate Spade had a flash sale AND 25% off her already sale items. So needless to say I gave in to some retail therapy and got a new wallet in this beautiful stone grey color that is basically the same color of my bridesmaid dresses and a new purse that is red and I was able to get the tag monogrammed with my new last name! Red and grey were our wedding colors so it was hard to pass up! Plus my best friend has the same wallet so I just had to match haha.
4. Simple Kind To Skin Cleansing Facial Wipes
I’ll admit I am way to lazy when it comes to taking my makeup off at the end of the day. My husband and I will usually make dinner, do the dishes, catch up on an episode of something and then head off to bed. I’m very happy for the facial wipes because I don’t have to think too much about removing my makeup from the day and as soon as my head hits the pillow, I am out!
I cannot believe that I have been married for 2 months today! I remember when our day was over and we were watching TV in our hotel room as husband and wife I was going through my friends SnapChats and had the sudden urge to look at my countdown app. It was so weird to see nothing there! The wedding was over and every second was worth it. We had so much fun and everything was beautiful. When I envisioned my wedding at a young age I wanted everything to be classic, beautiful and romantic being surrounded by all my closest friends and family. I am so blessed to be able to say that I was able to have my dream wedding. The best part was my husband shared the same hopes and dreams for his day too. I am so happy I have someone who didn’t “just show up”. He put so much time and effort into planning and making our day special with me. To me that made our day even better because everything that we envisioned came together at the end and it was perfect.
We were pretty laid back with all the planning so there wasn’t much stress involved. I think seeing the total cost of everything and how expensive it is to have a wedding stressed me out more than anything. I feel very fortunate and blessed to be able to have such an extravagant wedding.
I know it has only been 2 months but every second I am married to my husband is a blessing. I truly feel that I have found my soulmate. I couldn’t ask for a better partner for life and I am so happy to finally call him my husband.
I have always been writing in a journal every since I could remember. My family members would get me a new one almost every year and I remember my cousin giving me a beautiful beaded journal that has the moon on it with stars and she said she knew how much I loved to write so she thought it would be perfect for me. I love writing and I always have. I remember getting a diary from my mom when I was 10 years old. It has roses and cuddly bears on the cover. The entries are laughable because my spelling wasn’t great (still isn’t) and I mostly talked about my crush. Such a tough life at 10 years old haha. I now have a shelf full of journals I’ve collected over the last 18 years. Some are blank because I just loved the way it looked and are almost too pretty to write in but some are packed with entries and drawings that I have done over the years. It’s pretty interesting to see how my handwriting and drawings have evolved over the years! I have one shelf completely full of journals and that’s not even all of them. Some are stored away because I was running out of space on my bookshelf! Once we move I plan on making an entire wall of bookshelves in our designated office space!
For a little backstory, I really fell in love with writing when I was in college. I didn’t have many close friends at school and tended to focus on my classes more than my social life. It was also when I realized how much I loved to write! I ended up joining the school newspaper and took more classes in journalism. It was such a great experience to see the things I wrote in our newspaper, not that a lot of people read it but it was still something I looked forward to seeing. I then interned at a publishing company where I wrote a cover article and a couple press releases. I am currently working at that publishing company but I haven’t written any articles yet. I have asked a couple times but no cigar. I’m not giving up either!
I know I am on the right path to becoming a writer but it looks like it will take a little longer to get there than I would like. During that time I will be writing here a lot to get some more practice and become comfortable with writing to the public. I am really looking forward to the future and will continue to work towards my goals!
I have to say I noticed a different smell in the air this morning. It is still pretty cold but the birds were singing and the hope of a sunny spring day put a smile on my face. Although I love the snow and got married in the winter, I am looking forward to some warmer weather. I love opening the windows to get some fresh air in the house and it feels like I lit one of my favorite candled when I smell fresh cut grass (I know I’m not the only one). So here is to Spring! We’ve missed you and can’t wait to spend more time together!!
After doing some digging and finding some awesome blogs from WordPress I stumbled upon From the Fringe who had an amazing post about why they loved writing so much. Not only did they inspire me to really pursue my love for writing, they also have a weekly gratitude post. I instantly feel in love with the idea and had to do one myself.
Since this is my first week of what I am grateful for it is a little more broad that what it will be in the future. I am really looking forward to doing more of these and hope you enjoy!
1. My Husband
I honestly feel like there really is such a thing as soulmates! And my husband is mine. I could write about him for hours and probably put everyone to sleep reading this so I’ll try to keep it short. If you haven’t seen the wedding episode on Parks and Recreation, Leslie Knope married Ben Wyatt and during the ceremony she said that her vows clocked in at about 70 pages. I am a total Leslie Knope when it comes to my husband. Last week he sent me flowers to work with a simple note that said “I love you beautiful – Your Husband” and although he might not write a full paragraph like I would, I know that that simple sentence has so much love behind it. He knew I was having a rough week and he really stepped up to try and make it better. When people ask me how married life is going, I put a huge smile on my face and say “marriage looks good on me.” Although we have only been married for just under 2 months, I still feel like I am glowing just as much as I was on our wedding day.
I am a busy woman when Thursday rolls around and I love every second of it! My best friend and I have decided that every Thursday we would go out for happy hour and get a couple drinks to vent about the week or to just have some good company. I’ve known her for only 3 years but it feels like she grew up with me. Being able to drink a long island and just vent about the week is the best therapy I could ever ask for. My husband and I have also joined a bowling league that meet up every other Thursday. My aunt and uncle, who I am very close with, decided to get a good group of people together to go bowling! It’s kind of a big deal (hehe). We have such a great time and I am so happy my game has improved over the last couple weeks! Being able to see my best friend every week and my aunt and uncle every other week has really made my life feel complete. I am so thankful for them and couldn’t imagine my life without them.
I think I am finally comfortable with being a little more out in the open to pursue what I love to do most. Write! I used to have a personal blog a couple years back but I think I was a little too personal talking about complications in my personal life and treating it like a journal. I tend to do some similar posts here but not as detailed. I do need to keep my life a little private and understand that oversharing isn’t always the best way to go. So as of now I am finally feeling some courage to get out there, work on getting better at doing what I love and pursuing my dreams.
4. Sushi and Crime Fighting
On Monday’s we have $5 movie nights at our local theater. We love to go see the latest releases without having to spend the big bucks! Beforehand we go out to eat to get sushi which is also half off on Mondays. This week we saw Wolverine and although he is Marvel I do love a good Hugh Jackman movie. I cried at the end (don’t worry I won’t give any spoilers) but all in all I enjoyed it. My husband is a big Marvel fan where I myself prefer DC so it is always an interesting car ride home after the movies as we talk about what we liked and disliked. My husband likes to dissect DC movies a little more than his Marvel movies but don’t worry I do the same to him (hehe). Next week we are going to see Beauty and the Beast!
I look around my desk at work and see Batman everywhere. I have a tumbler, flash drive and headphones that all have the Batman yellow and black logo on them. At home I have almost every Funko Pop version of him and a Build a bear. I have all the movies and shows on Bluray and of course a big fuzzy blanket to use while watching them while I cuddle with my bear. I have loved him since I was a in grade school! After getting off the bus I would walk in and instantly put on the TV because Batman: The Animated Series would be on. My dad would even watch it with me. After glued to the TV for 30 minutes I would then move on to doing homework. For Christmas 2016 my mom and dad got me Batman footie pajamas with a cape and a hood that had bat ears! Needless to say, I wore it on the morning of my wedding to get ready in! You can see it in my About Me page! Such great memories and I am so thankful to the DC Universe for creating such an amazing character that I have fallen in love with.
